Meet the Board Members of the Okeene Municipal Hospital and Schallmo Authority

Brenda Sheik


Tenure 2004


Brenda Sheik retired from Oklahoma State University after 31 years serving in various curricula and program development, evaluation and capacity building roles with the OSU Oklahoma Cooperative Extension Service (OCES). During her time at OSU, she developed the Co-Parenting through Divorce program, which was the foundation for OCES’s flagship Co-Parenting for Resilience program, an Oklahoma court approved class which provides divorcing parents with insights, strategies, and skills necessary to help reduce stress and conflict associated with divorce.  Over the span of 25 years, she has been involved in advocacy for people with Type1 and Type 2 diabetes at both the state and national levels and served on and chaired the Oklahoma Diabetes Association’s Public Policy committee as this group spearheaded efforts that resulted in better access and care for patients with diabetes.  In partnership with the Okeene Municipal Hospital, she facilitated a very active diabetes support group for fifteen years and provided peer-to-peer diabetes education for patients of the hospital providers.  She received a Master of Public Administration from the University of Oklahoma, is a graduate of Leadership Oklahoma and serves as chair of the Okeene Municipal Hospital and Trust Authority. After retirement she opened Brenda Sheik Stained Glass, LLC and has gone back to work part-time for OSU, lending her time and expertise to the Co-Parenting Through Resilience program. 

Mike Buchanan


Tenure 2008

Mike Buchanan has been the local Motor License Agent in Okeene for 40 years and has operated an insurance agency for 28 years.  Mike has been a Okeene Chamber of Commerce member and board member since 1980.  He has been active in the community, he has served on Board of Trustees for the town and town clerk, Okeene Kiwanis member and board member and OHS school foundation board member.  A 1969 graduate of OHS and 1974 graduate of SWOSU Mike has lived in Okeene for most of his adult life.  Mike is a Deacon at St Anthony’s Catholic Church and serves on 2 church boards.  Mike is married, has 3 adult sons, all born at Okeene Hospital and 8 grandchildren. 

Jane Nusz


Tenure 2013

Jane Nusz is a lifelong member of the Okeene Community.  She is a teacher at Okeene High School where she teaches FCS and is the advisor to the Okeene FCCLA.  Jane has taught at Geary High School and at Oklahoma State University.  Jane Nusz graduated from Okeene High School before obtaining a BS from Oklahoma State University and a MS from University of Oklahoma and a MS from SWOSU.  Jane is a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church and teaches the confirmation class for the high school students. 

Jeremy Walker


Tenure 2015

Jeremy Walker is the owner of Walker Construction LLC. He graduated from Hennessey High School in 2000. He has 20 years experience in the construction industry and is also a member of the Okeene Volunteer Fire Department. His strengths on the hospital board pertain to the maintenance, repairs and remodeling of the facility. Jeremy lives in Okeene with his wife and three sons. 

Cherrie Greco


Tenure 2016

Cherrie (Dixon) Greco is a retired correctional administrator from the Colorado Department of Corrections. After retirement, she worked as a senior consultant for MGT of America and provided technical assistance and expert witness services to a number of prisons and jails in the U.S.  Greco also served as Director of Probation for Oklahoma County, and from 2011-2015 she was a columnist for CORRECTIONSONE.COM.  Prior to her career in corrections, she and her late husband, James Greco, and their two sons, lived in eight states as a result of Jim’s employment with the U.S. Department of Justice and his military service.  During that time, Cherrie was employed as a high school language arts teacher.  Ms. Greco is a 1966 OHS graduate.  In addition to the hospital’s board, she is a member of Kiwanis and was recently appointed to the Northwestern Oklahoma State University Foundation Executive Committee.  She holds a B.A., Ed. from Northwestern, and M.A., Ed. from Lesley University, Cambridge, MA.
